Standpipe & Hydrant Testing and Service

Standpipes, private fire hydrants, and fire department connections are the parts of a fire protection system the fire department uses directly. They sit idle for years at a time, which is exactly why they get tested — a hydrant that won't open, an FDC with a missing cap and a debris-packed inlet, or a standpipe outlet with a seized valve is only discovered at the worst possible moment otherwise.

Standpipe work covers the vertical piping and hose valves that let the fire department get water to upper floors or deep into a building. Testing verifies the piping and outlets, checks valve operation and caps, and confirms the system holds and delivers as expected. Private hydrant work covers hydrants on your property — flushing, flow testing, checking that the hydrant operates freely and drains, and addressing damaged or painted-over units.

Fire department connections tend to be the most neglected component on a commercial property. Caps go missing, inlets collect debris, check valves stick, identification signage disappears, and landscaping grows over the connection. All of it is straightforward to correct and all of it matters if the connection is ever needed.

We test what is due, document the results in a form you can hand to a fire official or insurance carrier, and perform the corrections ourselves rather than handing back a list. Flow testing coordination with the water purveyor, where required, is part of the job.
