Backflow
Backflow Testing & Repair
Testing, certification paperwork, and repair for fire line backflow preventers on commercial properties in Central Florida.
A backflow preventer keeps water that has been sitting in a fire sprinkler system from flowing back into the potable supply. Because it is a mechanical device with check valves and seats that wear, water purveyors require it to be tested on a recurring basis and the results submitted — usually annually.
Testing involves isolating the device, connecting a calibrated test kit, and verifying that each check and the relief valve perform within tolerance. Devices fail for ordinary reasons: debris on a seat, a worn rubber, a fouled relief valve after a water main disturbance. A failure isn't a crisis, but it does need correcting and retesting.
We handle both halves of the job — the test and certification paperwork, and the rebuild or replacement when a device doesn't pass. Because the fire line has to be isolated during the test, we coordinate the shutdown window with the property so the system is out of service as briefly as possible.
